
Kimberley Clayton Blaine, LMFT
Kimberley Blaine, MA, LMFT, is a licensed clinical family psychotherapist and nationally recognized early childhood mental health expert with more than two decades of leadership in trauma-informed care and neurodevelopmental treatment. She has directed early childhood mental health programs since 1998 and was a pioneer in the delivery of online therapeutic services long before telehealth became standard practice. Her clinical specialty includes ADHD, OCD, ASD, and emotionally complex children ages birth to 14, providing therapy, parent consultation, and school collaboration grounded in science-based, developmentally informed care.
She is the founder of the Clayton-Blaine Scholarship for Preschool Teachers at San Diego State University and holds certifications in Parents as Teachers in home developmental assessment, is a member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF), and maintains a Child Development Program Director Permit. Her background includes HighScope and Reggio Emilia training, facilitation of trauma-focused family group therapy, and extensive work supporting families impacted by early childhood trauma and domestic abuse.
Kimberley has taught Early Childhood Brain Development and Positive Discipline Strategies through UCLA Extension and serves as a consultant and trainer for educational and community organizations, including Caltech’s Children’s Center and Pasadena’s Office of the Young Child. For over a decade, she led social marketing efforts for a Los Angeles early childhood mental health campaign at The Children’s Institute Inc., funded by SAMHSA.
An accomplished author and speaker, her work has appeared in Wall Street Journal and USA Today. She is the author of multiple parenting books, including 8 Principles for Understanding Emotionally Complex Kids, Caring Less Loving More, Emotion Coaching Young Children, and the award-winning My Feelings Activity Book (Project ABC, SAMHSA-funded). Blending clinical expertise with lived experience raising a child with ADHD & OCD, Kimberley brings authority, compassion, and practical clarity to families navigating complex emotional and developmental challenges.
